Dr. Dante B. Castro

Dr. Dante B. Castro is an accomplished academic and researcher with a diverse background spanning entrepreneurship, innovation, family business, and business management. He currently serves as the Regional Head of the Business & Leadership Department at the prestigious Tecnologico de Monterrey Business School in Mexico.

Dr. Castro holds a Ph.D. in Business Management from the University of Cantabria in Spain, where his research focused on firm innovation, succession in family businesses, and entrepreneurial orientation. His doctoral dissertation, awarded with Cum Laude distinction, explored “The recognition of opportunities in the Mexican context: approach to a model for detecting entrepreneurship opportunities.”

With a strong dedication to teaching, Dr. Castro’s areas of expertise include entrepreneurship, business model innovation, family business governance, and strategic management. He has taught a wide range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including the Entrepreneurial Mentality, Business Management, Innovation of Business Models and Family Businesses, and Leadership in the Business Family.

Dr. Castro’s research has been published in reputable journals such as the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research, and the Portland International Conference on Management of Engineering and Technology. He has also contributed book chapters on topics like Mexican business etiquette and small & medium enterprises in Mexico and the U.S.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Castro has secured competitive research grants, including the University of Texas San Antonio ConTex Bi-National Collaborative Research Award for a joint project on “Promoting Technology Entrepreneurship in Mexico through Social Networking Skills Training.” He is an active member of research organizations like the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and the Mexican National Council for Humanities, Science and Technology (Conahcyt).

Beyond the classroom and research, Dr. Castro has held various academic leadership positions, including Head of the Fly-In MBA Program at EGADE Business School and coordinator roles for entrepreneurship programs and international experiences. He is actively involved in mentoring students, empowering entrepreneurs through organizations like Endeavor Mexico, and serving on advisory boards for initiatives related to international trade and community development.

Dr. Castro’s contributions have been recognized with awards such as the “Star Award” for teaching excellence at Tecnologico de Monterrey Business School and the “Teaching Excellence Award” at EGADE Business School. He has also received certifications in innovation management and family governance facilitation.
